Citizen Paid Approximately One Year of Underpaid Pension: Ombudsman

A citizen appealed to the Ombudsman for assistance in resolving issues related to receiving their pension. This was reported by the Ombudsman's office.

According to the applicant, they have been receiving an old-age pension since 2013. In 2017, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia's State Social Security Service notified them that the records in their employment book and statements regarding social payments did not substantiate their employment. As a result, the service reduced the citizen's work experience, and consequently, the amount of their pension. At the same time, the citizen was informed that an overpaid amount of 200,000 dram had to be transferred to the treasury account.

Based on the complaint, discussions were initiated within the Ombudsman’s office and relevant correspondence was sent to the appropriate state bodies, resulting in additional investigations being conducted.

With the Ombudsman’s assistance, the work experience of the person who filed the complaint was restored, the 200,000 dram was not transferred to the treasury account, and furthermore, the citizen was paid approximately one year of underpaid pension due to the error.
