Companies Restore Over 522 Million Dram to the State Budget

Active investigative actions continue in the investigative divisions of the administrative districts of Yerevan regarding the criminal cases aimed at clarifying the actual extent of the damage caused to the state by apparent abuses committed by companies engaged in the technical inspection of vehicles.

As of December 20, various companies involved in the criminal cases investigated by the investigative divisions of the Criminal Investigation Committee have transferred 522,262,600 AMD to the depositor account of the RA Investigative Committee as partial compensation for the damages caused. In addition, some companies have requested to establish a timeline for the phased restoration of the incurred damages.

Earlier, we reported that abuses had been detected in the activities of companies engaged in the technical inspection of vehicles not only in Yerevan but also in the provinces of the republic. According to preliminary investigation data, the methods of abuse are similar: individuals authorized by the companies have committed apparent fraud in the documents that serve as the basis for payment for the technical inspection of vehicles, which are subject to payments to the state budget, amounting to 3,500-10,500 AMD, resulting in the embezzlement of particularly large sums of money.
