Blizzard, Fog, Black Ice: Roads in Armenia
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia reports that as of December 14 at 14:00, there are impassable roads in the territory of Armenia.
The Vardenyats Pass is difficult to traverse for light vehicles and closed for heavy trucks.
The roads Mastara-Maralik and Sotk-Karmiraghbyur are impassable.
There is black ice in the village of Tsilkar in Aragatsotn Province, in the Saravan-Zanger section of Vayots Dzor Province, as well as on the Mastara-Maralik and Sotk-Karmiraghbyur roads.
In the cities of Hrazdan, Charentsavan, Abovyan, and Yeghvard in Kotayk Province, as well as in Vanadzor and Spitak in Lori Province, snowfall is reported in Aragatsotn and Shirak Provinces.
Drivers are advised to travel only with winter tires.
According to information received from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Stepanavan-Lars road is closed for all types of vehicles.
According to information from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of North Ossetia, there are stranded vehicles on the Russian side.
Since August 7, construction work continues near the 24th km of the Vanadzor-Alaverdi highway.
Alternative traffic routes have been established:
- Transit of heavy-duty vehicles and buses should take place via M-4 (Yerevan-Sevan-Ijevan) - H-26 (Vayk-Noyemberyan) - border sections to Georgia.
- Route M-3 (Yerevan-Spitak-Vanadzor) - M-8 (Vanadzor-Dilijan).
Intra-community traffic towards the cities of Alaverdi and Vanadzor and nearby settlements should take the following routes:
- Vanadzor-Stepantsminda-Agarak-Koghes-Aygehart-Odzun-Alaverdi border sections to Georgia.
As of June 30, from 08:30, a 200-meter section of the Yerevan-Meghri highway at the 139th km is closed unilaterally due to construction work.
At the 11th-12th km of the Vanadzor-Alaverdi-Georgia state highway (after the “Khazatuni” food object), a landslide occurred on June 12, 2018. The width of the roadway in the landslide area is 14 m, of which 6 m is allocated. The road is passable for light passenger vehicles in both directions.
Alternative transport routes have been set:
- Transit of heavy-duty vehicles and buses should pass via M-4 (Yerevan-Sevan-Ijevan) - H-26 (Vayk-Noyemberyan) - border sections to Georgia.
- Route M-3 (Yerevan-Spitak-Vanadzor) - M-8 (Vanadzor-Dilijan).

- Vanadzor-Stepantsminda-Agarak-Koghes-Aygehart-Odzun-Alaverdi border sections to Georgia.
- Via the Dsegh-Marts road section.
